A brief guide to a gourmet Christmas in Paris

A brief guide to a gourmet Christmas in Paris

Successful Christmas festivities are prepared in advance! If you’re lacking inspiration for your Yuletide table, the Salon Noël Gourmand in Paris will serve up plenty of ideas. As winter enfolds us in its chilly embrace, there’s nothing like a good helping of hot cheese to warm us up, so we point you in the direction of some of the capital’s great fondue/raclette restaurants! And to end on a sweet note, tuck into the delicious bûches de Noël (Yule logs) offered by leading pastry chefs.

The Salon Noël Gourmand, an event dedicated to festive gastronomy

If there is one event not to be missed while preparing for the festive season it's Noël Gourmand, the Christmas gastronomy trade fair scheduled for December 15th to 18th, 2017. This sumptuous salon dedicated to festive cuisine and luxury produce can be found in the Cité de la Mode et du Design. The best producers and artisans in France, true ambassadors of luxury gastronomy, invite you to taste the best French foods and find the dishes to grace your party tables. Follow your nose on the trail of tempting aromas... The Salon Noël Gourmand will enchant the taste buds of all serious gourmets, who wouldn’t miss this event for all the Christmases yet to come!

A warm welcome and good food in the fondue/raclette restaurants

At Chalet Savoyard, which, as the name suggests, has the feel of a mountain chalet, Savoyard cuisine is queen. With no less than 12 fondues à la carte, you will certainly find something to warm you up. Faced with the classique savoyarde with green pepper and cognac fondue you’ll not know where to put your croutons!

58 Rue de Charonne- 75011

At Pain, Vin et Fromages, a restaurant located just behind Beaubourg, you’ll find it difficult to choose between the six à la carte fondues and flavours as diverse as curry, Provence herbs, goat’s cheese, Roquefort... Raclettes and tartiflettes are also offered and served, like the fondues, with different kinds of breads.

3, Rue Geoffroy-l'Angevin- 75004

At Fondus de la Raclette you’ll find a friendly restaurant with a good-natured atmosphere. Here Comté, Beaufort and Emmental comprise a delicious fondue accompanied by green salad. And if you cannot resist the desire for meat, you can always fall back on the raclette and its accompaniment of cold cuts.

109, Boulevard Raspail- 75014

The Yule logs make their appearance

The most prestigious pâtisseries of Paris have a sweet invitation for you; to partake of this year’s bûches de Noël creations. Make your choice between the very rock ‘n’ roll bûche by Christophe Michalak, which is in the shape of a guitar, or the snowy-white, Slavic-inspired Kukla bûche and its Macariochka macaroons box from the Maison Dalloyau, which will transport you to distant lands! At Fauchon, Christmas 2017 will be celebrated with the creations of the new pâtissier, François Daubinet. At Ladurée, you’ll be seduced by the Celestial, Black Flower and Candy bûches; a gourmet hat-trick concocted by Claire Heitzler.
