Current photos exhibitions in Paris; the magic of the Kennedy clan
Born into a prominent New England family, John F. Kennedy served with distinction as a P.T. boat commander in the South Pacific theatre during World War II. In post-war America he entered the political arena, eventually defeating Richard Nixon in the 1960 presidential election. Taking office in 1961 his cool-headed leadership helped to avert the potential catastrophe of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Charismatic, likeable and capable, Kennedy facilitated a number of significant initiatives during his presidency. He committed his nation to landing a man on the Moon before the end of the decade. His New Frontier domestic programme continued the country's financial prosperity. An emphasis on civil rights and the ending of racial discrimination were also on his agenda. He extended the hand of friendship toward communist regimes.
Kennedy was making considerable progress on these fronts when he was assassinated on November 22nd, 1963; an event which stunned the world. The magic of the Kennedy clan continues to enthral as demonstrated by this JFK exhibition in Paris touching on the great moments in their history, with a particular emphasis on JFK.
