Paris gastronomy restaurant recommended by Hotel Marais Bastille
We are delighted to recommend Le Sergent Recruteur to our guests. This wonderful restaurant in a superb old residence on Ile Saint-Louis offers fine cuisine in a charming, refined setting and its 1 Michelin Star is certainly deserved.
The restaurant was recently renovated by acclaimed designer Jaime Hayon, and features a chic snack bar at the entrance, a cosy and friendly dining room with a view of the kitchen, and an elegant private room in the basement. It is the food in particular that has earned the restaurant 1 Michelin Star however, and chef Antonin Bonnet, a protege of Michel Bras, has devised one of the most exciting menus in Paris.
A creative and inspired choice of starters may include dishes such as a delicate cream of pumpkin soup with apple, lemon balm and carrot jus, or mackerel marinated in lime with green radish and horseradish snow. Inspired main courses are a real gourmet treat, and you might find Bigorre suckling pig with a creamy Thai curry pudding, or 50 day matured Galloway beef with mushrooms among the choices.
Exquisite desserts like pineapple sorbet with crushed pinapple or fig tart with lemon confit Melilo and ice cream are tempting, or you may prefer to sample the fine cheeses. The excellent Le Sergent Recruteur wine list complements the food perfectly, and you are assured of an unforgettable and highly enjoyable meal in this elegant oasis on the River Seine.
