Current photos exhibitions In Paris : the world of JFK

Current photos exhibitions in Paris have one particular front-runner in terms of enduringly fascinating subject matter. On display at the Galerie Joseph until November 30th is Exposition JFK 1963 to 2013, featuring original photos, films and letters pertaining to the beloved 35th president of the U.S.A., John Fitzegerald Kennedy, and his illustrious family. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of a president whose popularity extended far beyond his native land, and who continues to exert a strong fascination to this day. At the Hotel Marais Bastille you will be only a fifteen minute walk from this exhibition on the rue de Turenne.

The Place de la Bastille Paris

Near the Hotel Marais Bastille Hotel, the Place de la Bastille is a square in Paris, where the Bastille prison stood until the ‘Storming of the Bastille’ and its subsequent physical destruction between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790 during the French Revolution.

La Bastille

The former location of the fort is currently called the Place de la Bastille. It is home to the Opéra Bastille. The large ditch (fossé) behind the fort has been transformed into a marina for pleasure boats, the Bassin de l’Arsenal, to the south, and a covered canal, the Canal Saint Martin, extending north from the marina beneath the vehicular roundabout that borders the location of the fort.
