Two exceptional artists exhibited at the Pinacothèque

To lift the winter chill with the warming touch of genius and beauty, the Pinacothèque à Paris is presenting two new independent exhibitions that should not to be missed under any circumstances. Il Genio is devoted to Leonardo da Vinci, aesthetic genius and visionary, whose drawings and inventions have made a permanent mark on history, and reveals some of the secrets of his Codex Atlanticus. More contemporary, more frivolous, the designer Karl Lagerfeld offers his sharp, personal and revealing photographic perspective on the world in the exhibition, A Visual Journey. To discover more about the creativity of these two fine minds, enjoy a getaway in the French capital under the sign of culture.

Staying in Paris? A visit to the Arts Viaduct is a must!

Yes, Paris is the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysees and the Folies Bergeres. Mais oui, Paris is Notre Dame, the Louvre and rides on the Seine. But for those visitors who like to step off the beaten track, there are parts of Paris that are seldom frequented by tourists. The one we’d like to tell you about right now is a particular favourite of ours and one of the city’s most unusual locations. It can be found in the 12th arrondissement, on the Avenue Daumesnil, just a stone’s throw from the Place de la Bastille, and is called the Viaduc des Arts. Close to this place of artistic effervescence nestles the Hotel Marais-Bastille, the ideal starting and finishing point for all your unusual visits.

The Saint Germain des Près Jazz Festival 2015

The Saint Germain des Près district, located in the 6th arrondissement on the Left Bank of the Seine, has long enjoyed a reputation as having a certain cool, intellectual ambience. Unsurprisingly, this delightful part of Paris played a significant role in the rise to prominence of jazz in the mid-20th century. Today it is the setting for the annual Saint Germain des Près Jazz Festival, a relatively young but thriving event which regularly attracts some of the most creative and interesting talents in this particular genre of music. When you stay at the comfortable Hotel Marais Bastille, you are situated just across the Seine from the festival and can reach the event quickly and easily.
