The Rue Oberkampf
The Rue Oberkampf embodies the style and ambiance of the 11th arrondissement. Threading its way through a former industrial area, this street has become a symbol of fashionable Parisian nights due to its trendy bars, nightclubs and numerous small vegetarian restaurants. Accessible by Metro from the station of the same name, the Rue Oberkampf is home to famous music venues such as the Nouveau Casino and the Bataclan, which host numerous live concerts. While strolling along the street, take the opportunity to explore the picturesque hidden lanes and passages such as the Cité du Figuier and Cité Durmar with their old artists' ateliers and flea markets. The more you explore, the more you’ll be enchanted!
The Atelier des Lumières
This is the 11th arrondissement’s new and must-see digital art museum. The Atelier des Lumières presents state-of-the-art fully digital immersive exhibitions projected continuously on the walls and floors of a former foundry. The visitor is immersed in a breathtaking dreamlike universe thanks to a spatial sound system and 140 projectors casting astonishingly clear images on walls of up to 10 metres in height. For its opening in April 2018, the Atelier des Lumières presented the opportunity to virtually step inside the famous works of Van Gogh. For its follow-up exhibition, the museum featured the gorgeous art of Gustav Klimt. A secondary space invites you to discover the rising talents of digital art, while the latest exhibition is dedicated to artistic creativity inspired by the Mediterranean!
Nights in the Oberkampf quarter
Lovers of nightlife, the Oberkampf quarter is for you. After browsing the many decor shops and visiting the museums of the area, head to the bar Le Perchoir at 14 Rue du Crespin du Gast to get a literal overview of your surroundings. A rooftop with an intimate and exotic allure, Le Perchoir is a trendy 400m2 space where you can enjoy stunning views over Paris. It’s crowded on weekends, so we advise arriving early and being patient! You’ll find it’s worth it as you’ll be rewarded with a choice of terrific cocktails and delicious gourmet cuisine.
And if you're still not tired, you can let off steam until the small hours at the Nouveau Casino (a nightclub and concert hall) and the Alimentation Générale (restaurant and concert hall) by dancing, checking out the latest hot bands and meeting new people!
