In Paris this March…

In Paris this March…

Even after the whirlwind activity of the holidays and the romantic magic of Valentine's Day, Paris is still buzzing with ideas for ending winter in style and heading into spring on the right foot. Culture, exhibitions, sport… Whatever your preference, the capital has it. The Hotel Marais Bastille team has gathered together some ideas to help you draw up an itinerary for your stay in Paris.

A short stroll from the hotel

Forget the taxi and the Metro and take advantage of the mild weather by wandering on foot through the streets of our neighbourhood. From March 7th, an exhibition commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the famous Spanish artist’s death opens at the Musée Picasso. The British designer Paul Smith is the masterful conductor of Picasso Celebration: The Collection in a New Light. Meanwhile, less than ten minutes’ stroll from the Hotel Marais Bastille, you can find yourself immersed in the magic of the colours and purity of forms of Alfons Mucha at the Grand Palais Immersif. This new space installed in the Opéra Bastille building hosts digital exhibitions in which technology takes you into the heart of the works. From March 22nd to November 5th, projections and interactive devices will be used to create a fresh approach to the world of the Czech avant-garde artist. Art will also be in the spotlight at the Drawing Now Art Fair, taking place from March 23rd to 26th at the Carreau du Temple, less than a 20-minute walk from the hotel. The 16th edition of this international celebration of contemporary drawing, unique in Europe, welcomes more than 70 galleries and over 300 artists. A great way to prepare for March 30th and the opening of the Art Paris Art Fair!

Paris and sport

A year before hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics, Paris is more focused than ever on sporting events. In March alone, you will have the choice of attending the Paris half-marathon, the closing match of the Six Nations Tournament, the Martial Arts Festival and the Saut Hermès, an unmissable tournament featuring the biggest stars of international show jumping. Not to mention, of course, the matches of the Parisian Ligue I football club, PSG, and its star players. While enjoying the sporting excitement, you will also be in the front row to discover vibrant places such as the Stade de France and the Parc des Princes, the Accor Arena and the intriguing wooden structure of the Grand Palais Éphémère. Installed at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, this temporary venue is filling in for the Grand Palais while that venerable building undergoes renovation work.

Paris offers a wealth of wonderful things to do in March 2023. And we haven’t even mentioned the theatres and concert halls or the new Wellness space of the Galeries Lafayette department store! Our team will be happy to give you all the necessary information during your stay at the Hotel Marais Bastille.
