Summer fun that’s not to be missed; the Tuileries Funfair

Categories : Entertainment, Events, published on : 6/10/19

Summer is coming and with it the holiday season! It’s time to have fun! Parisians and tourists alike should seize the opportunity to visit the Jardin des Tuileries, which is hosting its famous funfair from June 23rd to August 26th, 2019. Forget your cares and have a wonderful time with your family at the Fête des Tuileries, which offers traditional fairground attractions in the heart of this beautiful and verdant park, the oldest in Paris.

An essential family event

The Fête des Tuileries is a funfair and an essential family event that takes place every year in the 1st arrondissement’s Jardin des Tuileries, situated between the Louvre Museum and the Place de la Concorde. This traditional funfair on a pleasingly human scale is organised by Marcel Campion, the French showman who also manages the Foire du Trône. Nestled in a pleasant promenade where sculptures by Maillol nestle alongside those of Giacometti and Rodin, the Fête des Tuileries is a relatively recent annual event, having been launched in the mid-1990s, but is already the 2nd most popular funfair in the capital after the Foire du Trône. The major difference between these two events lies in the more intimate, more traditional and warmly family-oriented feel of the Fête des Tuileries.

Slide, spin, ride, aim, shoot, shake and have fun!

The Fête des Tuileries offers more than 80 attractions including twenty rides and such traditional fairground fare as ghost trains, shooting galleries, dodgems, a hall of mirrors, hook a duck, trampolines, a merry-go-round and giant slides for children, not to forget the majestic Ferris wheel. When you rise to the top of this much-loved ride the panorama of Paris revealed to your awestruck gaze is breathtaking.

And when all that fun makes you peckish…

…You can tuck into waffles, toffee apples, candy floss and other traditional fairground snacks. When you’re resting between attractions, take a stroll along the paths of the Jardin des Tuileries, savouring tasty donuts, and don’t forget to refresh your palate with some delicious Italian-style ice cream. To ensure that visitors can enjoy the serenity of the Jardin des Tuileries, the sound of the funfair is kept to a minimum, with no music.

Other events are scheduled throughout the summer

Don’t forget that the Jardin des Tuileries will host other events this year, as usual. For example, August 15th and 16th are earmarked for a gypsy jazz festival, also organised by Marcel Campion. A celebratory and friendly atmosphere is guaranteed!

Don’t miss the opportunity to treat your family to some traditional funfair delights during your stay in Paris by heading to the Fête des Tuileries. Admission is free; you only need to pay for the attractions and, of course, the toffee apples, candy floss and ice cream! All the fun of the fair can be yours this year in Paris.
