Summer news of the Hotel Marais Bastille

Summer flows along peacefully at Hotel Marais Bastille, where we're enjoying the warm sunny days and mild evenings. As the sun sets, what could be nicer than a walk in the park or an evening watching a film in the open air? Cinema under the stars is a terrific way to enjoy the balmy summer nights and you can see an excellent programme of films at Parc de la Villette until August 24th.

The 2014 edition of the Outdoor Cinema Festival at Parc de la Villette looks like being one of the best yet. The subject this year is adolescence and the teenage years. Who could forget that important transitional period? Films like Wes Anderson's Moonlight Kingdom and Wes Craven's Scream 4 are just a couple of the films showing that evoke adolescence and all that goes with it.

Of course it isn't only the evenings that we hope you'll enjoy during your stay at Hotel Marais Bastille and some of the great things you can do this summer include taking an electric boat trip on some of the city's waterways. Marin d'Eau Douce offers boats for hourly or daily rental and the whole family will enjoy this fun way to see Paris. Treat yourself to a cakes or macaroons at the fabulous new Café Pouchkine at Place des Vosges, perhaps after a shopping trip to the amazing new Uniqlo boutique in the Marais. There's so much to see and do in Paris in the summer months, but if you're short of ideas the friendly staff here at Hotel Marais Bastille will be delighted to help, so just pop along to reception at any time to ask.

Visit the new Uniqlo boutique in the vibrant Marais district

See the latest collections of cutting edge contemporary clothing for men, women and children from leading Japanese brand Uniqlo at the label's spectacular new boutique in the Marais. Located in a former precious metals plant at 38 Rue des Francs Bourgeois, with interiors designed by Masamichi Katayama, the Uniqlo boutique is the perfect place to net the last bargains of the summer sales till 29th July.

See another side of Paris with Marin d'Eau Douce

Go boating on Basin de la Villette, Canal Saint Martin or Canal d'Ourq with Marin d'Eau Douce. You don't need a licence to take one of these simple to drive electric boats out on to the waterways of Paris, and you can choose routes and times to suit you. Boats are available for up to 5, 7 or 11 and the whole family will love seeing the Crimea Bridge or Parc Beregere from a new perspective.

A new branch - Café Pouchkine Place des Vosges

After shopping or before a visit to Outdoor Cinema 2014, the new branch of Café Pouchkine at Place des Vosges is a real treat. Inspired by a song and evocative of Tsarist Russia, Café Pouchkine offers some of the best gourmet cakes, pastries and savouries in Paris. Delicious macaroons, delicate pastries and picture perfect gateaux topped with jewel like fresh fruit are laid out to tempt you in gleaming display cases.
