Two exceptional artists exhibited at the Pinacothèque

To lift the winter chill with the warming touch of genius and beauty, the Pinacothèque à Paris is presenting two new independent exhibitions that should not to be missed under any circumstances. Il Genio is devoted to Leonardo da Vinci, aesthetic genius and visionary, whose drawings and inventions have made a permanent mark on history, and reveals some of the secrets of his Codex Atlanticus. More contemporary, more frivolous, the designer Karl Lagerfeld offers his sharp, personal and revealing photographic perspective on the world in the exhibition, A Visual Journey. To discover more about the creativity of these two fine minds, enjoy a getaway in the French capital under the sign of culture. Leonardo da Vinci: the genius behind the Mona Lisa

Brilliant inventor, exceptional artist, a mind ahead of his time; the 15th century Italian polymath Leonardo da Vinci is featured at the Pinacothèque à Paris until January 31st 2016. Through the often perplexing pages of the Codex Atlanticus, a collection of his ideas, inventions and thoughts compiled long after his death, you are invited to discover the most versatile talent of the Italian Renaissance. Day after day and throughout his life, the visionary recorded his concepts in notes and drawings. Some of these predict inventions only fully realised centuries later, whereas others have never been fully deciphered. Far from being a dull catalogue, the exhibition is designed as a fun course where the visitor is invited to perceive, between the lines, the flamboyant personality of the artist. A visit that will appeal to young and old!

A visual journey full of poetry with Karl Lagerfeld

The renowned fashion designer and creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, is also a photographer, and you are invited to view a selection of his creations in this particular artistic medium at the Pinacothèque until March 20th, 2016. His pictures are often suggestive of paintings, demonstrating precise and worked compositions in which nothing is left to chance. As you would expect, there are elements of his professional environment, with favourite models posed in scenes hearkening back to the classical world. But the guru of haute couture also reveals his poetic and theatrical eye for architecture and nature, as seen in his serigraphs of an Italian beach, or images of desert landscapes that invite the viewer to walk and dream.

On your own, with your family for a well-deserved break, or perhaps as a gift to a loved one, why not escape the winter gloom for a joyous Parisian interlude? Located in the heart of the XIth arrondissement of Paris, the Hotel Marais Bastille promises a warm welcome and a truly relaxing stay. A few steps from the Place de la Bastille and the Bassin de l’Arsenal, the Hotel Marais Bastille offers the perfect cocoon in which to relax after your cultural explorations of the capital, including your visit to the Pinacothèque. We will be delighted to welcome you this winter in our cosy, comfortable and quiet establishment.
